Notes for Llewellyn Jabez BARNUM


The correct spelling of his name from various records is Llewellyn Jabez Barnum, son of Allan Lafayette Barnum.

His WWI draft registration gives his birth date as August 24, 1889. His later WWII registration confirms that date and gives his place of birth as Sheffield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

Llewellyn and his first wife Gladys had at least three children. In 1920, Llewellyn and wife Gladys were enumerated with children Evelyn and Harold E. Barnum in Torrington, Litchfield County, Connecticut. In 1930, they were enumerated in West Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, as follows:
Llewellyn Barnum, 40, born Massachusetts
Gladys Barnum, 39, born Connecticut
Evelyn Barnum, 17, born Connecticut
Harold E. Barnum, 12, born Connecticut
Floyd C. Barnum, 8, born Connecticut

At the time of his WWII registration, the family was living in Newington, Hartford County, Connecticut, where they remained. Following the death of his first wife in 1967, Llewellyn Barnum married Leta Parmalee on April 19, 1969 in West Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. (Connecticut Marriage Index).

Llewellyn Jabez Barnum was born 8/24/1889 in Sheffield, Berkshire County, Mass. and died April 10, 1983 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. (Connecticut Death Index).
