A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
Henry Clay Barnum was named after Henry Clay (1777-1852), a leading American statesman and orator who represented Kentucky in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. He enlisted 6 Sep 1862, as a private in Company "H" 143rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on 1 July 1863 and died of his wounds at a military hospital in Baltimore, Maryland on 18 July.
Henry was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. His tombstone says that he was wounded on 3 July and died in Baltimore on 19 July, 1863. He was a member of Company H, 143rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers.
He is also listed as being buried in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltmore,Maryland, Grave M-695.
