Killed in action during World War I. He was a private (serial number
428528), and served with the 7th and 47th Battalions.
He was “buried where he fell”, in an unmarked grave about ¾ mile northwest of Pozieres, France, on September 8. 1916, according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Circumstances of Death Register. His name is listed on the Vimy Memorial to the over 11,000 Canadians killed or presumed dead who have no known grave.
