From the Commercial Advertiser, Canton, New York, Tuesday, December 15, 1936: Mrs. Charlotte Ware Barnum, oldest St. Lawrence University graduate, died at her home, Canton, Massachusetts, Sunday (December 13), aged 91. Mrs. Barnum was a member of the class of 1868 and had long been prominent in alumni circles. From year to year in recent years her birthday was recognized by the University with marked attention. She was a resident of Canton while her son, H. Ware Barnum, was a student at St. Lawrence. The latter, prominent Boston attorney, jumped from an office building on Nov. 22, to his death, while suffering physical and mental illness. Mrs. Barnum was the widow of the late Hendrick Barnum who has been dead for many years. Before marriage she was Charlotte Marion Ware. Funeral will be conducted at Danbury, Connecticut her former home city where she was a teacher in the public schools for many years.
