Barnum, Orval Thomas "Barney". b: Nov 16 1927, Neodesha, Wilson Co, KS. d: Jun 26 2005, Lexington, Lafayette Co, MO. bur: Jun 29 2005 Clinton Memory Garden Cemetery, Fields Creek Twp, Henry Co, MO. Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Jun 28 2005 - Orval Thomas Barnum, known to most as Barney, was born November 16, 1927, in Neodesha, Kansas, and died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at his home in Lexington. He was the son of Omar and Vera Newton Barnum. His family moved to Saint Clair County in 1930. He grew up in the Osceola and Clinton areas. He served in the United States Army for six years. He later moved to Kansas City where he worked at the Old American Roofing Company. He had seven children with his first wife. Later, he married Norma Wilson, who also had seven children. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son; four brothers; two half-sisters; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his 13 children, Dennis Barnum, Rockville, Sharon Ray, Eagle Rock, Barbara Wolf, Lamar, Janet Leslie, Raytown, Judy Riley, Carthage, and Cynthia Barnum, Springfield, Connie Jennings, Brenda Tripp, both of Lexington, Judy Kraft, Richmond, Mike Register, Carol Knight, Vickie Wilson and Jimmy Register, all of Lexington; 34 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Berger and Doris Redford and husband Chester, all of Clinton, and a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 29, at Clinton Memory Gardens Cemetery.
