Extracted from obituary, Berkshire Eagle, Pittsfield, Mass., October 20, 2001: Great Barrington — Bethuel Sherwood Barnum, 92, of Housatonic died Thursday. Born in Sheffield on October 15, 1909, son of Allen L. and Iona Ruby Warren Barnum he attended Sheffield schools. He was a member of the Housatonic Methodist Church where he served as superintendent, lay minister and trustee.
He leaves his wife, the former Mildred F. Snyder whom he married May 18, 1938; two sons, the Rev. Philip T. Barnum of Columbia, Ky., and Bruce Barnum at home; a brother Milton W. Barnum of Sheffield and two grandchildren, Stephen and Michael. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Berkshire Eagle, August 7, 1969: Miss Peggy Lorena Beard daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Beard of Gray, Ky. was married recently to Philip Thomas Barnum.
Berkshire Eagle, Oct. 31, 1977, Rev. and Mrs. Philip T. Barnum and their son Stephen have returned Irvington, Ky. after spending two weeks with Mr. Barnum’s parents. Rev. Barnum is pastor of United Methodist Church in Irvington.
