Notes for Sara Louisa KNAUSS

From the Sedalia Democrat, Sedalia, Missouri, Wednesday, October 5, 1927, pg. 3: Mrs. Sarah L. Barnum, widow of the late Harold L. Barnum, who with her daughter, Helen, resided at 600 South Grand avenue, passed away Tuesday morning in Los Angeles, Calif., according to messages received by friends of the family in this city late Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Barnum, left Sedalia the latter part of August for Los Angeles, in company with her daughter, Helen, who entered the Southern University of California there. Since going to California, according to letters received by Sedalia friends from Miss Helen Barnum, her mother's health has been very poor, and it was thought the extreme change of climate was too severe for Mrs. Barnum who has been in ill health for several years. The body, accompanied by Miss Helen, will arrive in Sedalia some time Friday. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Mrs. Barnum was among Sedalia's well known and highly esteemed residents, and the news of her death came unexpectedly to her friends here. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist church. Her eldest daughter Miss Ruth is located in St. Louis, where she is a trained nurse.
