Obituary from the Buffalo News, Buffalo, NY, 26 Jan 1997: Vernon P. Barnum, an Apex Co. retiree and a self-employed television repairman, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 1997) in Medina Memorial Hospital (Medina, Orleans County, New York) after a short illness. He was 72. Born in Yates, New York, Barnum grew up in the Yates and Lyndonville areas and had lived in Medina for 43 years. He worked for Apex Co. in Medina for 25 years until retiring in 1975. He also ran a television repair shop out of his home and continued to do so after his retirement from Apex. Barnum was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where he was a junior warden for six years and served on the church vestry. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cards. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, the former Edna Boyle; a son, Michael; two daughters, Holly Guzik and Bonnie Fisher; a brother, Weldon; a sister, Esther Hedly of Albion; and five grandchildren. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.
