In the 1910 US Census for Des Moines Ward 4, Polk, Illinois, Orion was enumerated together with his wife Mary.
In the Iowa State Census of 1915 Orion was enumerated as a bookkeeper, affiliated with the Baptist Church, and with one year of college.
In the 1920 US Census for Webster, Polk, Illinois, Orion was enumerated together with Mary and their two daughters, Florence E., 9, and Vera M., 5, both born in Iowa.
In the 1930 US Census for Urbandale, Polk, Illinois, the same family group was enumerated.
On his WWI draft registration card, dated 12 September 1918, he was listed as an insurance clerk for Bankers Life Company.

Wixom, 55, of 7065 Maryland drive, agency cashier for the Bankers Life Co., died at Iowa Methodist hospital Saturday. He underwent an emergency abdominal operation Thursday. Born in Mendota, Ill., Wixom had lived in Des Moines 2 years and was employed by the Bankers Life Co. 20 years. Surviving are two daughters, Florence, Des Moines, and Mrs Vera Mae Labertew, Boone, Ia.; four sisters, Miss Cora Wixom and Mrs. Dora Mason, both of Des Moines, Mrs. C. H. Hall, Glidden. Ia., and Mrs. E. J. Wolcott of Omaha, Neb., and two brothers, L. B. of Mendota and Alvin of LaSalle. Ill. Mrs. Wixom died four months ago.
