From the Niagara Falls Gazette, Thursday, June 10, 1943: Niagara Falls lost one of its foremost woman leaders, a beloved personality whose long life of service was largely devoted to the welfare of her fellow citizens when Mrs. Adele Brownlee Barnum Shepard, wife of George R. Shepard died at her home last night. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Richard Marvin Shepard of Kenmore, NY and Robert Clinton Barnum of Greenwich, Conn; three grandsons, Ensign R. C. Barnum, George Barnum and Edward Barnum of Greenwich; a granddaughter Nancy Adele Shepard of Kenmore and a brother Raymond B. Brownlee of San Diego, California.
From The Niagara Falls Gazette, June 11, 1943: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clinton Barnum and sons, Ensign R. C. Barnum, Jr., George and Edward Barnum, of Greenwich, Conn. have arrived, called to this city by the death of Mr. Barnum's mother, Mrs. George R. Shepard, of Jefferson avenue.
