Notes for Edward Marvin BARNUM

(CT), 30 October 2008: Edward Marvin Barnum, 82, former chairman of Time-Life Pacific, of Sydney, Australia, died on Oct. 19, 2008.
The son of Robert and Marjorie Barnum, he was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., attended Greenwich schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He later attended Hobart College. After college, he worked for Container Corp. before enjoying a long career at Time Inc., where he eventually became chair of Time-Life Pacific in Australia. Barnum was a businessman, a vintner, a sailing member of the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, president of The American Club in Sydney and a supporter of various charitable organizations. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rena May, and their four children: Geoff and his wife Jenny; Andrew and his wife Lissa; Robin and her husband Andrew; and Chris and her husband Georgie, and their respective families. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Barnum Jr., of Stamford and a twin brother, George Barnum of Louisville, Kentucky.
