A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
From the Pacifica Tribune, California, 19 May 2011: Jean Leonard. On April 12, 2011, Jean, affectionately known as GG by her great grandchildren, passed away at the age of 94 with her family at her side. She was born on April 28, 1916 in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Jean was a descendent of pioneers who traveled the Oregon Trail. Her parents were Elbert Barnum and Irene Sirginson Barnum. Jean married Donald C. Leonard in 1939. They raised their daughter Linda in El Cerrito and Pacifica.
Jean was a homemaker and later a working mother who held jobs with US Steel and Safeway. After her husband passed away in 1984, she began volunteering at the San Pedro Park Visitor Center in Pacifica and enjoyed working there nearly every Sunday.
Jean leaves behind her daughter Linda (John), grandchildren Steve (Gwenn) and James, great grandchildren Brooke, Amber, Jake and her cat Juliet. Her husband Don, grandson Michael, brother Robert, and sister Dorothy preceded her in death. There will be a private service for family to spread her ashes.
