Notes for Dorothy Irene BARNUM


From the Mail Tribune, Medford, Oregon, December 17, 2002: Dorothy Irene Heinert. The Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Irene Heinert will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Liam Cary will officiate.
Mrs. Heinert, 77, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 13, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Mount Angel, to Elbert and Irene (Sirginson) Barnum. Her father was one of the first dentists in Medford. She attended Washington Elementary School in Medford and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1943.
On July 7, 1943, in Roseburg, she married Albert Helms, who preceded her in death. On March 29, 1978, in White City, she married Francis Heinert, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Heinert was a waitress at Newberry's. She then worked as a hostess at Rogue Valley Manor, and later as a certified nursing assistant.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford.
Mrs. Heinert enjoyed writing letters, collecting family pictures and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Alan Helms and Gary Helms, both Medford; a daughter, Janice Yurs, North Bonneville, Wash.; a sister, Jean Leonard, Pacifica, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Barnum.
