Westport News, Dec. 6, 2001: Frances Barnum Jackson, widow of the late Frederick T. Jackson, died Sunday, Dec. 2 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 84. Mr. Jackson used to own Welch’s Hardware in Westport. Mrs. Jackson was born on August 26, 1917 on Marion Ave., Norwalk, daughter of the late Dr. Allan Barnum and the late Thursa May Olsen Barnum. Mrs. Jackson was a lifelong resident of Norwalk. She was an alumnus of the first graduating class of the Danbury State Teachers College and was a teacher in the Norwalk School System. Survivors include three sons, Frederick Jackson, Daniel Jackson and John Jackson: two daughters Alice Jackson and June Jackson; a brother, Allan Romine Barnum, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jackson was predeceased by two sisters this past year, Thursa Barnum and Mary Alice Merritt. Interment private.
