From the Huerfano World, Raton, New Mexico, April 26, 2001 - Mae Novak passed away Apr. 13, 2001 in Colorado Springs. She and her husband, Andy Novak ranched at Apache for over 30 years. She was a member of the Huerfano County Cowbelles. Prior to her living in Colorado Springs, she lived in Briggsdale. Mae was born on July 1, 1909 in Raton, NM, to the late John and Bersabe (Fernandez) Barnum. She is survived by three sons, Manuel "Jr." Ulibarri and Abraham "Abe" Ulibarri, Aurora and John Novak, Briggsdale; three daughters, Matilda "Tillie" Ulibarri Guillory, Colorado Springs, Viola Ulibarri O'Shields, Rainsville, AL, and Edith Novak Nesby, Henderson, NV; 20 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Bert Barnum and four sisters, Ella Gallegos, Viola Rodriquez, Edna Parong and Audrey Barnum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy and her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Ulibarri Simmons and Becky's seven children and four grandchildren, three brother and four sisters.
