She was ahousewife, mother and school cafeteria cook.
From the Missouri Valley Times, Missouri Vally, Iowa, September 16, 2011: Edna Ehlert, 88, Woodbine, died Thursday, Aug. 25, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine.
Edna Maxine (Barnum) Ehlert was born Sept. 23, 1922, to Willard and Mabel (Dietz) Barnum in Logan. She was raised in the Logan area, attended Logan Public Schools and graduated from Logan High School in 1940. Edna cared for her mother. On April 6, 1941, Edna married Corrie Ehlert. The couple farmed west of Woodbine and they continued to care for her mother for a number of years. The couple moved to town in 1959. Edna worked as a cook at Woodbine School for 25 years. Corrie died in December 2001. Edna was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Jolly Neighbors Club. She loved to cook for her family and set a beautiful table. She worked at the food pantry and she and Corrie delivered meals for the Senior Center. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Corrie Ehlert; six siblings, Viola Toby, Floyd Barnum, Roy Barnum, Gladys Hodges, Mary Peterson and Ruby Graves; son-in-law, Dean Smith; and grandson, Timothy Ehlert.
She is survived by her three children, Robert Ehlert, Richard (Elaine) Ehlert and Carolyn Smith, all Woodbine; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.
Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery near Woodbine.
