Peter Romp moved his family to Ohio in 1819 and they settled six miles from Marietta, on Duck Creek. In 1825 they moved to Zanesville. In 1826 he bought a tract of land in Olmstead Township, Cuyahoga, Ohio, on what later became the Albert Bronson Farm and later the Kirk Farm. Several years later, he bought a tract of land on Mastick Road that was later called the Raver Farm. Most of that farm was in the valley and is now a part of the Metropolitan Park. Peter and Lavina Romp had 11 children.
