Published June 02, 2004 in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Barnum, Emeral. Emeral Barnum, 71, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born July 26, 1932, in Mesquite. A lifetime Clark County resident, he worked in the Blue Diamond gypsum plant most of his life, until his retirement in 1991, and spent many of his earlier years in Boy Scouting. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Alan and Mike; daughters, Shelley Jeffcoat (Monty) and Wanda Norwood (Fred), all of Las Vegas; brothers, Odean (Roberta) of Saint George, Utah, James (Marketta) of Mesquite, Theryl (Nora) and Aschel (Mary) of Las Vegas; sister, Roxie (Robert) Bearden of Mesquite; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Orin (Patti) and Elwin (Mary); and sister, Ella Ree Barnum. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Visitation will also be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, with services at 10 a.m., both at the Pennwood Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 4500 Pennwood Ave. Burial will follow at the Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
