This is provided as a hint for further research, although Sarah's birthdate, if correct, doesn't fit with these parents: Capt. John Hitchcock (Samuel, John, Lake) son of Samuel and Sarah (Weller) Hitchcock, was born in New Milford, Conn., Sept. 28, 1716. He married 1st, May 27, 1736, Sarah Barnum, born Aug. 11, 1717; d. May 10, 1754. Capt. John and Sarah, his wife were admitted to church Aug. 5, 1739. He married 2d, Dec. 26, 1754, Sybil Sherwood of Woodbury, Conn. She died July 12, 1759, and he married 3d, May 21, 1760, Mrs. Rebecca Buel of Kent, Conn. He settled as early as 1745 on the south end of Rock Mount, New Milford, was justice of the peace, captain of the militia and representative in the state assembly. He and his sons Isaac and Asahel were grantees of the town of Hinesburg, Vt. He died June 27, 1796.
