From The Spectrum, May 24, 2004: Betty Jane Knight, age 78, died Friday, May 21, 2004 in Bullhead City, Arizona. She was born July 29, 1925 in Mesquite, Nevada to Leo Milton and Carmelia Barnum Hardy. On October 7, 1942 she married Victor Berdell Knight in Yuma, Arizona. They were later Sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1999. Betty was a lifetime resident of Mesquite. She worked 24 years as the Mesquite Postmaster. She loved life, the outdoors, the mountains and beautiful flowers. She enjoyed traveling and learning all she could about the places she visited, including trips to Mexico, Spain, Canada and all across the U.S.. She was a talented alto singer, and she enjoyed quilting. Her life reflected her love for others. She could always be found caring for others needs, showing compassion and being a good friend. Survivors include three sons and three daughters: Penny (Terry) Belford of Boyne City, Mi; Larry of Mesquite; Sue Bollinof Ferron, UT; Les of Mesquite; Ross of Paneca; Jean (David) McLean of Bullhead City, AZ; son in law, Darrell Spiller of Houston, TX; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one sister, Thirza (Ivins) Jones of Veyo, Utah. She was preceded in death by one Daughter, Toni; three sisters and three brothers
Funeral services will be Monday, May 24,204 at 11 a.m. at the Mesquite LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be from 9 -10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Mesquite City Cemetery under the direction of Virgin Valley Mortuary.
