From the Provo, Utah, Daily Herald, February 25, 1977: Coalville - Edith Lyons Barnum, 88, of Coalville, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 1977 in the Coalville Hospital after a lingering illness. She was the mother of Mrs. Leo (Melba) Mortensen of Provo.
Mrs. Barnum was born Feb. 5, 1889 in Peoa, Summit County, a daughter of Oscar and Maria Marchant Lyons. She married Franklin Richard Barnum Sept. 14, 1911 and he died Dec. 22, 1946. Mrs. Barnum was active in the LDS Church, serving as a Relief Society visiting teacher. Survivors include five daughters and one son, Mrs. Mortenson, Provo; Mrs. Ervin (Norma) Wright, Peoa; Mrs. Lee (Fay) Stembridge, Salt Lake City; Henry O. Barnum, Mantua, Box Elder County; Mrs. Earl (Jane) Kohnke, Summit, Ill., Mrs. Forrest (Louisa) Lovering, Kalispell, Mont.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren and one sister, Hazel Folsom, Salt Lake City. Funeral services are pending.
From the Provo, Utah, Daily Herald, February 27, 1977: Peoa, Summit County - Funeral services for Edith Lyons Barnum, 88, of Peoa, who died Thursday, Feb. 24,1977 in a Coalville hospital, will be Monday at noon in the Peoa Ward Chapel. She was the sister of Mrs. Leo (Melba) Mortenson of Provo. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary in Kamas tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock or Monday one hour before services. Burial will be in Peoa Cemetery.
