Barnum, 88, passed away peacefully in his home due to incident of age. He was born on June 25, 1914 in Peoa, Utah. He was the only son of Franklin and Edith Lyons Barnum. He attended the Peoa and South Summit schools. Henry spent many hours with his father cutting and hauling timber for the mines in Park City and helped him maintain the roads. He loved horses and used them for farming and ranching. He married Reva Astle on November 9, 1938. After serving in the CCC, he started his career in road construction, which lasted until his retirement at age 65. He then returned to his love of horses and ranching. Henry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many church callings, which included Superintendent of the Sunday School and High Priest Group Leader. He served in the Primary for 15 years as a teacher and greeter. He loved the children as much as they loved him. He was also a faithful home teacher. He is survived by his children, Dick H. Barnum, Fairbanks, Alaska; Ann (Ted) Palmer, Weston, Idaho; Jean Hancey, Manassas, Virginia; sisters Jane Kohnke, Illinois; Louisa Lovering, Montana; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Norma Wright, Melba Mortenson and Fay Stembridge. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mantua Chapel, 237 South Willard Peak Road, Mantua, Utah. Friends may call Tuesday, February 18, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah and on Wednesday, February 19, 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mantua Cemetery.
