December 14, 1914 - May 12, 2005 MILTON, MORGAN COUNTY - Ella Rogers Barnum, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2005. She was born December 14, 1914, in Hyrum, Utah, a daughter of Orson and Lizzie Rogers. She was the first of seven children. Her family moved to Harrisville when she was seven years old. Ella attended school in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School. She married Milton Barnum on April 7, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 23, 1980. Ella lived in Morgan County for 68 years. Ella was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in the Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary and enjoyed temple work. Ella also taught many young girls how to sew in the 4-H program and at the high school. She was always willing to judge sewing at county and state fairs. She enjoyed being a homemaker and her interests included crocheting, cooking, baking bread and rolls as well as traveling. Ella had an exceptional talent for piecing and quilting quilts. She made many quilts and blankets for family and friends and gave of this service until the time of her passing. Ella especially enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Phyllis (LaMoyne) Jensen, Roy; Ramona (Bruce) Widdison, Centerville; grandson Roger (Annette) Prescott, Morgan; son-in-law Pete Prescott, Uintah; 11 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Melvin (Ellen) Rogers; and sisters, Irene Kingsford, Lillian Johnson, and Marilou Sorensen and a sister-in-law, Ruth Charlton. Ella was proceeded in death by a daughter, Cheril Prescott; grandson, John B. Widdison; and brothers, Dr. LaMar Rogers and Harold Rogers. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Milton LDS Ward Chapel, 1255 North Morgan Valley Drive. Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, Morgan, and Monday prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park in South Ogden. In lieu of flowers, “Do something nice for someone else.” (As quoted by Ella.)
