B Branch - Eli(1) - pg 57
Inheritances from his uncle, Daniel Barnum, and his grandfather, Isaac, were in the car e of Catherine, Eli(1)'s mother. Upon her death these bequests, by court action 9 Jan 1761 , were placed in the guardianship of John(3) and John Knapp.
Bailey's "History of Danbury" states that by the time of the Revolution Eli(1) had estab lished a nail manufacturing business located on Mill Plain Road and he lived with his famil y on the floor above. This enterprise was probably financed by his inheritances and, perhaps , by his father who left him only a token
sum in his will.
