Notes for Melvin BARNUM


Middlefield - Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday for Melvin Barnum, 53, of 16015 Button St., who died at his home Thursday. Stricken with an apparent heart attack, Mr. Barnum was dead on arrival at Geauga Community Hospital. Born Aug. 20, 1918 in Montville, he lived his entire life in Geauga County. He married the former Marjorie Jemison in Mesopotamia in 1942. For the past four and one half years Barnum has been employed as a cement finisher for R. W. Sidley, Inc. Pre-Cast Division in Thompson. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Painesville. His parents were the late Pearl T. and Maude Barnum of Montville. In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Raymond, stationed with the U. S. Army in Germany; a daughter, Mrs. William (Elaine) Drew of Madison; one granddaughter; a brother, Everett of Thompson; sister, Mrs. Betty Miller of California; stepmother, Mrs. Clara Barnum Lampman of Chardon; stepbrother, Robert Cook of Painesville and stepsister, Mrs. Ruth Kivela of Concord. Services Monday afternoon will be at Russell Funeral Home in Middlefield with Rev. Lemuel Stroud, pastor of Mesopotamia United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mesopotamia.
