Notes for Marjorie I. JEMISON


From the Star Beacon, Ashtabula, Ohio, July 18, 2012: Marjorie I. Barnum, age 89, of Middlefield, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, July 16, 2012, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on April 15, 1923, in Mesopotamia, Ohio, daughter of Alvia and Iona (Minick) Jemison. After Marjorie graduated from Mesopotamia High School in 1941, she married Melvin Barnum on Feb. 21, 1942, and lived in the Mesopotamia and Middlefield area. She was employed at Johnson Rubber for 16 years; Geauga Industries 7 years; babysitter in Middlefield for 10 years; and also was an attendant at Russell Funeral Service for several years. She was a member of Mesopotamia United Methodist Church; active in previous years with the United Methodist Women's Group; and a member of the Mesopotamia Historical Society. Her hobbies included reading and flower gardening.
She will be missed dearly by her friends and family; her companion, Paul Miller since 1974 of Middlefield; her son, Raymond (Linda) Barnum of Mesopotamia; her daughter, Elaine (Bob) Leopold of Geneva; four grandchildren, Rita Drew, Susan (Paul) Thomas, Jennifer Drew and William Drew; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Abigail and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin who died in 1972; her parents, Alvia and Iona Jemison; and her brother, Raymond Jemison.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mesopotamia.
