Obituary from the Mentor, Ohio News-Herald, Friday, November 30, 1988: Services for Leon D. Barnum, 90, of Ashtabula, retired owner/operator of the former Barnum Moving and Storage in Painesville and the former Barnum's Septic Tank Cleaning Service in Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Mr. Barnum died Wednesday at Ashtabula County Medical Center after a brief illness. Born July 23, 1898, in Hiram, Ohio, he lived in Perry before moving to Ashtabula 20 years ago. Survivors are his wife, Marion L. (Rood); sons, Richard of Ashtabula and Leon of Madison; daughters, Emma Butte of Conneaut, Evelyn Alexander of Onaway, Mich., and Lillian Kirkingburg of Ashtabula; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. His son, Roy; brothers, Pearl and Hugh; and sister, Lottie are deceased. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Lawrence English of Pentecostal Holiness CHurch in Ashtabula will officiate at services. Burial will be in South Ridge Cemetery in Perry.
