From the Wichita Eagle, Wichita Kansas, Thursday, February 17, 2005: Barnum, Lizzie (Babe), 91, Loving wife and mother passed away on Monday, February 14, 2005. Lizzie was born on February 27, 1913 in Siberia, Russia of German parents. Her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Western Oklahoma when Lizzie was an infant. She and her husband Caleb (Barney) Barnum of 67 years, settled in Wichita, KS in 1946, living in the same home on Aloma St. for 51 years. Together they operated a Dairy Queen on S. Broadway St. for 10 years and a drive-in restaurant on S. Seneca St. for over three years. After many years of being a homemaker, Lizzie worked part-time for eight years at St. Joseph Flowers on S. Clifton St. Lizzie and Caleb practiced their faith in God at Central Assembly of God Church on E. Central and in the later years at Linwood Nazarene Church on S. Hydraulic. Lizzie is preceded in death by all of her eight brothers and sisters and by her cherished daughter, Phyllis Carol. She leaves behind her husband, Caleb Barnum of Wichita, a son Ronald (Karen) and a grandson Michael all of the Kansas City area. Funeral Services are 10 AM Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday.
