She appears in the records of Ste-Bibiané Parish (located in Richmond, ) as Marie Caroline Barnum, b. 21 Apr 1874, bapt. 3 May 1874 (godfather: Charles Morin; godmother: Louise Borque). The 1880 census for Omaha, Nebraska, lists her as M. C. Barnum, 6 years old. The 1900 census for Omaha, Nebraska states that Maude had no children, had been married one year, and was born in Canada. Husband's name is not legible. They were living at 1821 North 24th Street, next door to her brother Louis Octave Barnum. Her birthdate is listed as April 1874.
Mary Ann Meeker wrote, on 20 Jan 2005: "I don't think Marie-Caroline/Maude knew her birthdate because in each census she gives a different date."
She was buried in Cedar Park Cemetery.
