(Curly) Barnum, 76, died Sunday in Geneva Memorial Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was born in Chardon, March 4, 1907. He had been a resident of Geneva for the past 14 years.He was a bricklayer and belonged to Bricklayer, Masonry and Plasterers International Union of America, Local 16, of which he had been a member for 40 years. He retired in 1968. Following his retirement he operated the Geneva Cab Co. with his son, James, from 1975 to 1978. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary A. Wigley, whom he married January 10,1940 in New Castle, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Joyce) Sawyer of Middlefield and Mrs. Larry (Jean) White of Pearl River, La.; a son, James E. of Middlefield; six grandchildren; two brothers, Bert and Bob of Chardon; two sisters, Irene Barnum of Willoughby and Mrs. Robert (Elsie) Painter of Chardon.
He was preceded in death by his father, H. Sizer Barnum in 1928 and mother, Ella Gould Barnum in 1966. Private services in Chardon Cemetery, Chardon. Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St. is in charge of arrangements.
He was buried in Chardon Cemetery.
