Treasure State Deaths

KALISPELL — BARNUM, Richard C., 57. died in Kalispell Sunday evening. Johnson FunerÂal Home is in charge of arÂrangements. He was born April 3, 1908 at Steamboat Springs, Colo. At the age of two years he came with his family to KaliÂspell where he attended schools and later attended Montana State College, Bozeman. In 1933 he married Irene Burns, at SidÂney. They came back here and lived since that time. He was employed by the Montana State Highway Dept. for a number of years, and for the past 16 years had been superintendent of the city, street, and sanitation dept. here. He retired April 5 of this year due to illness. Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Vicky, Kalispell; three brothers, Frank. Miles City. Harold, Denver, and Donald, Kalispell; a sister, Mrs. Ethan Ford, Butte.
From the Daily Inter Lake, Kalispell, Montana, exact date unknown: Richard C. Barnum, 57, who had resided at 503 East Center Street, passed away in Kalispell on Sunday evening (June 20). Mr. Barnum was born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. At the age of two, he came with his family to Kalispell where he attended Kalispell schools and had later attended Montana State University at Bozeman. In 1933, he was married to Irene Burns at Sidney. The couple returned to Kalispell and has resided here since that time. Mr. Barnum had been employed by the Montana State Highway Department for a number of years and for the past 16 years had been superintendent of the Kalispell street department until retiring from that position April 5 due to illness. He was preceded in death by one son Billy as the result of an accident in 1950, and is now survived by his widow Irene and one daughter, Vicky Barnum at the family home. He is also survived by three brothers, Frank Barnum of Miles City, Harold Barnum of Denver, Colorado and Donald Barnum of Kalispell; and one sister, Mrs. Ethan (Mildred) Ford of Butte.
