From The Citizen Patriot, Atwood, Kansas, 18 September 1958, Page 10: Grace Belle Barnum, daughter of Samuel C. and Luella Barnum was born on April 3, 1881 at Hiawatha, Brown County, Kansas, and passed away at Rawlins County Hospital in Atwood on December 11, 1958 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 8 days. On Sept. 29, 1897 she was united in marriage with Franklin P. Hanson. To this union seven children were born. Mr. Hanson and two sons preceded her in death. At the age of 18 she gave herself to the Saviour, and at the time of her death, she was a member of the Federated Church of McDonald. On March 5, 1934, she was united in marriage with Charles Kimball, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Kimball had been an invalid since 1936, and for the past 18 years had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Fay Knapp of McDonald. She was a loving and devoted mother, a good neighbor, ever ready to lend a helping hand where ever needed as long as her health permitted. Through all the years of suffering she was cheerful and patient, always putting her faith and trust in God. She leaves two sons, Clark M. and Fred E. Hanson, both of Stratton, Nebr., three daughters; Mrs. Lucille Lyman of Denver, Colo., Mrs Vella McSherry and Mrs. Thelma Lyman, both of Victorville, Calif., 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Harold Barnett of Lincoln, Nebr.; 2 brothers, Ralph Barnum of Mercedes, Texas, and Carl Barnum of Kansas City, Mo. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also join in mourning her passing. Services were held from the Federated Church with Rev. Clarence Swihart officiating and Rev. Luella Warren assisting. Interment was at Grace Cemetery.
