Notes for Elbert Rufus LYMAN


Elbert Rufus Lyman, son of Edwin and Anna Lyman, was born at McDonald, Kan. on March 9, 1912. He departed this life on July 30, 1972, at the Elegant Care Center in Westminster, Colo. His early boyhood days were spent at the ranch where he enjoyed the freedom of the great outdoors. On July 30, 1940, he was united in marriage with Thelma Mae Hanson. They have one son Charles. With his high ideals and love for his fellowman he exemplified the life of a Christian. He endeared himself to all who knew him. He was always willing and ready to help a friend or neighbor. Because of his life for his fellowman he always tried to be understanding. His was a sunny disposition, coupled with a wry sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and memories of him will be cherished forever. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by brothers, Roy and Edwin, and by sisters, Ann Payne, Mildred Tracy, Margie Wilson, and Lois Mayo. Other friends and relatives will also miss him. Funeral services were held August 3, 1972 at 10:00 a.m. at the McDonald Federated Church, McDonald, with the Rev. C.L. Swihart officiating. Interment was in Grace Cemetery, McDonald, Kansas.
