From Bailey, James M, and Susan B. Hill. History of Danbury, Conn., 1684-1896. Salem, Mass: Higginson Book Co, 1990. Reprint: Joseph Forward, of Danbury, died October 3d, 1704, leaving a widow, Lidia, who afterward became the wife of Thomas Wildman. He left four daughters, the eldest only six years of age. Ann, who at the time of her father's death was four years old, became the wife of Benjamin Barnum.
Joseph Gregory was her guardian in 1707.
From the 1779 distribution of Ann Barnum's Real Estate we see that she was Benjamin Barnum's wife and she died intestate with real estate in her own name valued at 885 pounds. Ann's heirs in birth order were:
Forward Barnum, son of Ann.
The heirs of Ann Stevens, daughter of the deceased and herself the deceased wife of Lieutenant Ezra Stevens.
Olive Barnum, daughter of the deceased and wife of Samuel Barnum.
Lydia Barnum, daughter of the deceased and wife of John Stevens.
Benjamin Barnum, son of the deceased.
Ann's property was jointly held when she married Benjamin Barnum. The real estate wasn't distributed until Benjamin died in 1779.
Oddly neither son Abijah nor daughter Ann were mentioned in the list of Ann's heirs. Ann's absence may be explained by her own death in 1779 but the exclusion of Abijah remains a mystery.
