No specific dates have yet been found for him. There was also a Leman Barnum (1793-1827) who married twice and is shown with four sons. The Genealogical Record of the Barnum Family (1912) erroneously assigns to him Caleb (1811-1895), Daniel (1812-1840), Ephraim (m. Elizabeth _?__) and George. However, those four were actually sons of this Leman Barnum. Descendant Bob Gordon is convinced that Leman was a son of Comfort and that he may possibly be the same person as Comfort's son Freeman.
According to Robert Gordon, a descendant of Leman's daughter Lydia Barnum, he was located in Thurlow in 1816 and in Rawdon in the 1830s. In later census data, Leman's older children give their birthplace as USA., an indication that Leman emigrated to Canada with a wife and children.
Leman appears in the 1790's as a witness to a wedding in the Bath area of Ontario, Canada.
In 1816 and 1838 Leman was given land grants in Ontario for his service during the War of 1812. That service is interesting in a family so prominent in the American Revolution.
