A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
At least one source refers to him as Augustus. He appears to have been born in Connecticut, later lived in Ohio and Iowa and died in Illinois. This family lived in Licking County, Ohio in 1860s but the courthouse burned so there are official no records of them. The 1860 US Census for Nevada Township, Story County, Iowa gives Augustine's birthplace as Connecticut. He is also found in the History of Livingston County, 1878, Taxpayers of Illinois, where his profession is listed as Carpenter.
