When Deborah visited her grandchildren at Ida May's house, a granddaughter would hide her comic books because Deborah did not believe they were fit for children. She was known as being stern, while her husband George was very jovial.
According to family tradition, documented by Anne's sister, Ruth, Anne and George were caretaker's for Ed Clarkson at his farm in Benton Township, which later became the Dipple Residence. The name of the farm was "Boffin's Bower." A granddaughter, Maud Keith, lived with them.
