Plaistow, N.H. — Mrs. Marjorie P. (Smith) Barnum, 95, of Plaistow, N.H., died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry, N.H. She was born in Haverhill, Oct. 29, 1912, daughter of the late Raymond F. and Florence O. (Colby) Smith. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mrs. Barnum graduated from Haverhill High School. A former Atkinson resident, Mrs. Barnum resided in Northwood, N.H., from 1984 to 1994. While in Atkinson she was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church, the Grange, Women's Garden Club and was a Trustee of Kimball Library. A former member of the Concord Real Estate Board, Mrs. Barnum sold Real Estate in Salisbury, N.H., in the late 1960s. She enjoyed braiding rugs and quilts for family members. For over 59 years she was married to the late Leroy D. Barnum, former Atkinson Selectman, who died in 1991. Her survivors include four sons, Raymond E. and his wife Edna F. Barnum of Sandown, N.H., Eugene L. Barnum of Edgewater, Fla., Douglas S. and his wife Linda Barnum of Lunenburg, Andrew L. Barnum of Gilmanton, N.H., eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Funeral service will be held in the Spring at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Newton, N.H.
