From the Chronicle, Goshen, New York, May 9, 2007: Richard Herman Freyberg Jr. of Goshen died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus, Goshen. He was 92. Son of the late Richard H. and Esther (Lewis) Freyberg, he was born Jan. 31, 1915, in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was married for 65 years to Eleanor (Barnum) Freyberg. He was a vice-president for Con Edison in New York, N.Y. He was a retired U.S. Navy Commander, who served during World War II, a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a life member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, member emeritus, American Nuclear Society and a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor B. Freyberg, at home; sons, Richard H. Freyberg III of Vail, Colo., Peter Lewis Freyberg of Guangzhou, China, and Dr. Christopher W. Freyberg of New York, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Kristin Ann Freyberg, Keri Ann Cappiello, Everett Freyberg, Christopher W. Freyberg, Jr., and Owen Freyberg. The funeral was private and at the convenience of the family.
