Treat Payne Andrew, Ph.B. 1921 Yale University. Born September 5, 1899, in Naugatuck, Conn. Died August 31, 1938, in New Haven, Conn.
Father, George Willey Andrew, general manager Risdon Tool & Machine Company, Naugatuck; son of George Sidney and Harriet Louise (Scott) Andrew of Naugatuck. Mother, Mary (Gillette) Andrew, daughter of Rufus Merritt and Abigail (Payne) Gillette of Prospect, Conn. Yale relatives include an uncle, J Alvin Scott, '77 S.
Naugatuck High School and Phillips-Andover Mechanical engineering course. Manager Soccer Team, member Senior Promenade Committee, Andover Club, Pipe and Bowl, The Colony and Berzelius, member Company 3, Yale Naval Training Unit, September, 1917-June, 1918; attended Officers' Training Camp, Fort Monroe, Va, October 21-November 22,1918.
Partner Eberth [Sherwood S , '20 S] & Andrew (real estate and insurance), New Haven, 1921-23, bond salesman in New Haven branch of Richardson, Hill & Company of Boston 1923-24 and with Winslow,Day [Julius G , '87 S ] & Stoddard [Carlos F , '26], Inc (subsequently Day, Stoddard & Williams, Inc ), New Haven, since 1924, member St. Michael's Church (Episcopal), Naugatuck
Married May 23, 1923, in Greenwich, Conn, Eleanor, daughter of Richard Nicholls Barnum, '98 S, and Marian Hutchison (Cocks) Barnum, and sister of Richard N Barnum, Jr, '34, and William H. Barnum, 3d, Class of 1942. Children Treat Payne, Jr, and Marian.
Death due to meningitis and an abscess of the brain. Buried in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Survived by wife, children, father, four sisters, Mrs Tracy Noble and Mrs Chester P. Isbell of Naugatuck, Mrs. Clyde S. Stillwagon of Ridgewood, N J, and Miss Pnscilla Andrew of Durham, N C , and six brothers, Samuel N Andrew, Leroy S. Andrew, Walter Andrew, and Franklin Andrew, all of Naugatuck, and Alvin G. Andrew, '06 S , and George S Andrew, ex-'14 S.
