From the Burlington Free Press and Times, Thursday, January 23, 1919: Monkton Ridge - Harry O. Barnum, aged 38 years, died Wednesday afternoon, January 15, at his home in East Monkton following a three weeks' illness with Influenza and pneumonia. Harry Orton Barnum, son of Orton Barnum, was born In Monkton July 10, 1880, and has always been a resident of this town. Mr. Barnum was held in the highest esteem by all, being a young man of fine principals, a kind neighbor and devoted to his family, giving tender care to his aged father, who has been in feeble health for several years. As member of the Methodist Church he was always faithful in attendance and support. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Urana Stilson, and two small children, Helen and Edward; also by his father and a sister, Mrs. Dwight W. Eddy of Monkton. The bereaved family has the sympathy of all. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in East Monkton Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial was in the East Monkton cemetery.
