More than 150,000 Facebook users shared the image hours after The Oregonian newspaper posted it on its website. Portland police Sgt. Bret Barnum and Devonte Hart, 12, hugged at a rally in Portland, Oregon, where people had gathered in support of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri. The shooting of Michael Brown occurred August 9, 2014, in Ferguson, a suburb of Saint Louis. Brown, an 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Darren Wilson, 28, a white police officer of the Ferguson Police Department.
