From the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester, NY, Wednesday, September 5, 1928: Former Rochesterian dies in Auto Crash. Mrs. Edna Westfall Barnum of Fredericksburg, Va., wife of the Rev. E.G. Barnum, died last Friday from injuries she received in a collision of automobiles while she was on her way to church. The impact caused both cars to turn over. Mr. Barnum crawled out through the window but his wife was on the lower side and it was some minutes before she could be taken out. She was taken to the hospital but expired soon afterward. Both Rev. and Mrs. Barnum were born in Rochester, New York. Mrs. Barnum being the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Westfall. She was at one time the librarian at the Rochester Theological Seminary and left here 24 years ago. She was 54 years old. Mrs. Barnum is survived by her husband and a daughter Miss Mildred Barnum. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Virginia.
