Notes for Stephen SOAME
Alice Barnham (m. (1) Sir Francis Bacon, (2) Sir John Underhill; d. 1650) apparently settled her interest on her nephew and executor Stephen Soame, who in his will proved in 1658 stated that she had left him a moiety. The lands may have been sold to meet bequests but in 1673 were named in a claim by Underhill against Stephen's son William Soame (later a baronet, d. 1686) for the full payment of his annuity.
