Note: Although this record shows Axel Sparre as a brother of Charles Adolf Hakon Sparre, John F. Sparre, a great grandson of Charles, believes it is more likely that the two were cousins. According to John, in 1889 Axel (Axel Hagbarth Sparre) traveled from Australia to the United States, probably to visit his parents. In 1891 he married Mary Christine Schmemen in Prescott, Arizona. John believes they divorced in 1900. Axel then lived with his cousin Charles for some years.
