From the Lewisboro Ledger, 13 Jan 2009: Mrs. Laurella B. Christensen, 80, of Frostproof, Florida, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009, at her home, of multisystem failure. She joins her loving husband of fifty years, Robert W. "Bob" Christensen who predeceased her in 2003, her parents Zenus and Alice Barnum, and her sister Edyth Cook. She is survived by her loving daughters Ruth Ann Christensen and her husband James L. Salamon, Jr. of Wilmington, Delaware and Zena L. Harris and her husband King D. Harris of Johnson City, New York, her cherished grandchildren Vanessa, Amanda, and Tyler, one special great granddaughter Arianna Mae, and her sisters Marjory Hinman and her husband Grayson of Windsor, New York and Janet Stahl and her husband Jack of Lake Wales, Florida. Also eight well loved nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, and many cousins, whose friendships she enjoyed so dearly. After college and marriage they settled in West Windsor, New York. Her career was in food service management with Windsor and Vestal School and cooking for two local Girl Scout Camps during summers for years. She enjoyed cooking, music, entertaining, family gatherings, knitting, sewing, travel, and shopping. Above all things her faith and family were the center of her life. The family would like to thank Dr. Montero and staff for his wonderful care, her home health care providers for the compassion and excellent care, her sister Janet for always being there when needed, Good Shepherd Hospice, and her friends and neighbors for their kindness and compassion. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Further services will be held in Windsor and interment will be made at Chenango Valley Cemetery in Hillcrest, New York.
