Notes for Washington D. BARNUM


During the Civil War he served with Company "G", 13th Iowa Infantry. He was 18 years old at the time of his enlistment on 6 October 1861.
He died of bilious fever. Bilious fever refers to any fever that exhibits the symptom of nausea or vomiting in addition to an increase in internal body temperature. The term is no longer in use, but was commonly used by medical practitioners in the 18th and 19th centuries. It causes strong diarrhea.
