From the Herald and News, Klamath Falls, Oregon, July 27, 2001: Louise VanDoren Barnum, 102, died July 24, 2001, in Houston, Tex. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held in Klamath Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Barnum was born in Maquoketa, Iowa, Jan. 13, 1899, to Charles Grant VanDoren and Rosa (Flathers) VanDoren.
She married Sherwood Barnum in Yuma, Ariz., in 1923 and they were married for 44 years until his death in 1967, when Mrs. Barnum moved to Houston to live with her daughter. Mrs. Barnum lived in the Klamath Basin from 1925 to 1967. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and flower gardening. Survivors include daughters, Jean Kehew of Houston, Tex., and Patricia Johnston of Klamath Falls; granddaughters and grandson-in-laws, Jeanette and Wayne Houghtaling of Stayton and Cathy and Ray Anchondo of Tracy, Calif.; granddaughter, Barbara Olson of Hayward, Calif.; and grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Dave and Lori Hamilton of Klamath Falls; and nine great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
