From the Hannibal Courier Post of 10/01/2007: Louisana - Charles Lee Barnum, 83, of Columbia and formerly of Louisiana, Missouri, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at the Audrain County Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana, Missouri. Members of American Legion Post No. 370 will conduct graveside military honors. Mr. Barnum was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Louisiana to Joseph Asbury Barnum and Verna Elizabeth Branstetter Barnum. He married Doris Maxine Patterson on April 5, 1942, at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana and she preceded him in death May 12, 1968. He is survived by two sons, John J. Barnum of Quincy, Ill., and Edward Wayne Barnum of Bonfield, Ill.; one daughter, Donna Barnum Bradley of Louisiana; 11 grandchildren, John Barnum Jr. and Fawn Acup, both of Joliet, Ill., Shari Kyzar of Macomb, Miss., Michael K. Bradley and Charles L. Bradley Jr., both of Quincy, Doris Cox of Hamilton, Ala., Charles E. Bradley of Macomb, Miss., Cindy Graham of Garner, N.C., Cathy Berger of Fairview Heights, Ill., Candy Lovett of Clarksville, Tenn., and Crisy Stewart of Reddick, Ill.; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Ruth Crane of Columbia. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Barnum and Howard Barnum, and two brothers who died in infancy; and by two sisters, Margaret Pollard and Florence Kenney. Mr. Barnum graduated from Louisiana High School with the class of 1941. He had been employed as a meat cutter for A&P Grocery Store and Clarkson's IGA in Louisiana. He moved from Louisiana to Columbia in 1965. He later moved to Florida for a few years before returning to Columbia to make his home. He was a veteran serving with the 13th Airborne Paratroopers in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post No. 280 in Columbia and a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisiana.
