Her death occurred at 6 Paddington Lane in Paddington. In the early 1820s, ex-convict entrepreneur and gin distiller Robert Cooper set out to build a grand Georgian estate at the top of a nearby ridgeline, affording excellent views. He named the area Paddington, after a London borough, and named his estate Juniper Hall. It remains Paddington's oldest home. The district's first cottages were built around the Victoria Barracks, formerly a major army base.
